The finishing touch

What “homemade” means with us

In Aix-en-Provence, plenty of places list a tiramisu; few actually make one. The difference is not something you explain, it is something you taste — here is what it covers.

  1. Made in our kitchen

Our tiramisu comes out of our own kitchen on Place des Cardeurs, like the rest of the menu. No frozen desserts, no reheated industrial preparation.

  2. Fresh produce, a short menu

We offer few desserts, but they are made with fresh produce. It is the same principle as our pizzas and our pasta: fewer, but better.

  3. The hand of the team

Five people run the dining room and the kitchen. The tiramisu passes through their hands, not through a supplier.

  4. Made for the end of the meal

After a wood-fired Neapolitan pizza or a plate of fresh pasta, it brings the sweet note that carries the moment on.

Homemade or industrial

How to spot a real homemade tiramisu

In Aix-en-Provence, the word homemade appears on plenty of menus. Here, criterion by criterion, is what sets a tiramisu made on site apart from an industrial dessert simply reheated.

A tiramisu for the whole table

Di Micheli is a family trattoria that opened in September 2021: five people in the dining room and the kitchen, a private room seating 28 and a 90-seat terrace on Place des Cardeurs. Dessert works just as well for two as at the end of a long table.

For a family meal, a birthday or a company dinner, we build a tailor-made menu with you — tiramisu included. The rest of the time, a table is all you need: book in seconds, or give us a call.

A word from the trattoria

Homemade tiramisu, a classic of our table

At Di Micheli, the tiramisu is one of those desserts we make in house, in our kitchen on Place des Cardeurs. Since our family trattoria opened in September 2021, we have chosen a short menu and fresh produce, with no frozen pasta and no frozen desserts. The tiramisu follows that same standard: it is meant as the finishing touch of an Italian meal, after a wood-fired Neapolitan pizza or a plate of fresh pasta.

In Aix-en-Provence, many places offer a tiramisu, but few genuinely make it in house. That is what changes everything on the plate: a dessert made on site, by our team of five, does not taste like a reheated industrial preparation. We stay true to the contemporary Italian cooking we stand for every day, inside and on the terrace.

Our tiramisu is enjoyed at lunch as well as at dinner, right in the pedestrian centre of Aix-en-Provence. It goes with our family meals, our birthdays and our company dinners, for which we offer tailor-made menus in our private room and on our terrace. It is a simple, generous way to end a moment spent at Di Micheli.

The tiramisu is an emblematic Italian dessert, and ours belongs to that tradition. To discover its history, browse the page tiramisu on Wikipedia, then come and find it on our plates, on Place des Cardeurs.
